About

Remember

Her family called her "Jana Banana," it was a nickname that reflected her playfulness and sense of humor.

Those were two things that put a smile on her family's face during this tough day.

Since she was a little girl Jana Shearer always liked to look her best.

"It was the last thing Jana did that night, Friday night, was look in the mirror. That's what she was doing, looking in that mirror, fixing that hair," Stephanie Shearer, Jana's Mother says.

Her family says it wasn't vanity, it was fun for her to pick out a new outfit, do her hair a new way, and no matter what, she always showed up looking like a supermodel.

But there was more to Jana than being a beautiful woman, relatives say she was caring, helpful, and always smiling.

"She would do anything for anybody," her mother says.

When she was at John Tyler High School, Jana was a star dancer on the drill team.

She helped girls on the team learn the dances, she helped a classmate get proper help for Dyslexia, and she supported a friend after the loss of a spouse.

Even on her MySpace page, she wrote her biggest weakness was "being too nice."

Everyone who knew her agrees. It was her sense of humor and her unconditional love.

But unfortunately she never got to live out some of her own dreams.

"She wanted to explore and grow," Stephanie Shearer says.

"She wanted to travel, wanted to go to New York and California," Jana's sister, Rebekah Thomas explains.

All these things that friends and family say will stay with them many more years than the 21 Jana was here with them

words cant describe

jenn (Nov 13, 2008)

Words cant describe that amazing girl or how sad I am about her being gone. She was the nicest person I had ever met. She would give you the shirt off of her back. {Weather it was the first time or the hundreth time she had worn it} She would gladly give it to you. The whole time I knew her I never not once heard her say anything bad about anybody else. Not once did I ever hear her gossip about somebody else. Like most ppl do. Even tho its been months since this whole awful thing happened I miss her like it was yesterday I heard the news. Its even harder to know that she wont come walking into my house to borrow anything. Her laugh wont be heard anymore or her beautiful smile wont be seen. But until we meet again, heres to the most beautiful person ive ever met upclose...to you jana! RIP JANA!
