Biography

Born John Southwork Ritter in Burbank California.  He was known as the class clown.  He had two idols, Bobby Kennedy and Jerry Lewis.

John Ritter was an American actor who performed in several stage performances, and appeared occasionally in several television series including the ‘Waltons’.  He rose to fame in the hit series ‘Three’s Company’ in 1977.  He also starred in several big screen movies, and in many made for television movies.  In 2002 he returned to television in the comedy serried ‘8 Simple Rules for Dating my Daughter”.  He also did the voice work for Clifford, in the animated series ‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’.  It was this which won him two Emmy nominations.

John Ritter died of an undiagnosed congenital heart defect on his daughter Stella’s fifth birthday.
